I've lived in my current apartment for about 8 months now. In that time, as Pants Party has previously written about, the front door has become a bit popular. I've had several gifts left for me at my front step, but this morning's gift beats all the rest. The cats and I are feeling pretty festive now.
I'm sorry but I think this is a little too silly.
It reminds me too much of something out of Woody Allen's Sleeper.
What are your top 5 CDs/albums of 2006?
Submitted by eliz. s.
2006 is the Year I Moved to San Francisco and the these albums will always remind me of this year. They're not all from 2006 but I didn't listen to them before this year, so they didn't exist.
It's been a pretty good break from roller derby so far. I can't say that I miss the late nights and stressful meetings, but I do miss the regular workout and organized release of aggression (and I imagine my coworkers miss that as well!). This Sunday the BAD Girls are throwing a Derby Prom and holding an end-of-year awards ceremony.
I'm nominated for "most foreboding booty" which I have to admit was always my best weapon.
If you're looking for something fun (and loud, and drunk) to do Sunday night you should drop in!
What song makes you rock the karaoke mic?
Submitted by Ann.
It doesn't take much to get me in front of a mic, and when I'm there I'm usually singing something by Fleetwood Mac or Patsy Cline.
My family is big on Karaoke and I'm looking forward to some quality time in a Phoenix area dive over Thanksgiving weekend.
Pants Party and I were just discussing ultimate dad-core music and he reminded me of the song Afternoon Delight, which reminded me of one of my favorite Arrested Development scenes.
While I'm at it, this clip of Bender gets mentioned often between Henry and I.
The trip to Japan last week was fantastic - easily my favorite non vacation trip and I can't wait to visit again. Next time I'll learn more Japanese beforehand, not just because I was embarrassed to be in a country where I know so little of the language, but also the visit made me much more interested in learning more. Everyone at SAKK was extremely nice to me, and I can't thank Kaneko-san enough for translating for me all week.
I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Kamukura with Kaneko-san and Asaka where we visited temples, ate from a German bakery, posed for some photos in front of a large Buddha, and enjoyed home-style Japanese food and sake at a local family run restaurant.
Most of the rest of the week was filled with work. The SAKK folks took me out to many delicious meals and, of course, to a karaoke box. In between work I visited Kappabashi, Shibuya, Omatesando, Asakusa, Akasaka, Kiddy-Land, and various other places on walks. I was only lost a couple of times, and had just one encounter with the police (hint: never forget to take your passport with you even on the shortest of trips outside the hotel)
I have lots of stories but unfortunately the work has sapped them all out of me...for now. Check out my Japan collection of photos for more from the visit.
